# Printing an existing program without changing how it looks

Stillleaf. Three decisions decide whether a corrected program prints the way the family saw it.

## Can the picture stay right to the edge?

It depends on the print route. Some routes print to the trimmed edge and some always add a margin, so edge-to-edge is a requirement to plan around rather than assume. We keep the existing fold and appearance and look for a route that prints to the edge before preparing the print file. We do not add a border unless you say a border is acceptable. One condition decides the detail: a flattened edge-to-edge PDF without bleed (extra picture beyond the trim line) may need a slight enlargement or trim to print to the edge. If your file has no bleed, Stillleaf tells you whether that is needed before proofing, and does not change it without asking.

One public example of why this matters: the FedEx Office brochure page, viewed November 6, 2026, says uploaded files include a small margin and will not print full-bleed. Its Canva designs do support full-bleed, but they are described as double-sided tri-fold, so that is not an equivalent route for an existing half-fold program.

If your program already has a white border or you are happy with margins, this objection does not apply and more routes are open. These are conditions of one provider product, not a rule for every printer.

## Count finished programs, not PDF pages.

One letter sheet, 8.5 by 11 inches, folded in half makes a finished 5.5 by 8.5 inch program with four panels: front, back and two inside.

Two PDF pages often hold the outside and the inside of that sheet. 150 programs means 150 folded copies, not 150 pages. A tabloid sheet, 11 by 17, folded in half makes a larger 8.5 by 11 program, which is a different product.

We read the arrangement of your file before changing page order or preparing it for a particular printer. You do not need to rearrange pages or add bleed before asking.

## Proof approval comes before printing.

The corrected proof has to be approved before production starts, so the approval date is part of the delivery plan.

Printers commonly count turnaround from proof approval rather than from your first message; PrintingCenterUSA describes its timing that way. Keep three times separate: when the programs must arrive, when the receiving desk is open, and when the service begins.

If the family still has to approve, tell us who approves. We plan timing around that decision and confirm feasibility before you accept anything.

Keep three times separate: arrival (in hand), receiving (someone can accept delivery), service (programs handed out).

Carry your choice into a request: [Keep my program edge-to-edge](/?appearance=edge#desk) or [A white border is acceptable](/?appearance=margins#desk).

## Send the file and the change

We review the file, choose a route that keeps its appearance, and email a completion plan and pricing with the corrected proof for approval. You confirm wording, approver and address. [Request correction, printing and delivery](/#desk)
